THE $2.3 million Golden Square Recreation Reserve pavilion redevelopment has entered its second and final stage.
Once all upgrade works are complete, the facility will be equipped with female friendly and umpire change rooms, a new kiosk, and improved spectator viewing, with refreshed landscaping.
The pavilion will then comply with AFL, Cricket Victoria and Netball Victoria Senior Sporting Association Guidelines, and Female Friendly Sports Infrastructure Guidelines.
“It’s an important project that includes a complete redevelopment of the existing pavilion to meet with current building and accessibility standards,” said City of Greater Bendigo mayor Cr Thomas Prince.
Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters said it’s exciting to see works start on stage two.
“We’re one step closer to Golden Square FNC and Golden Square Cricket Clubs’ female players having change room facilities that they need to be able to fully participate in playing the sport they love,” she said.
The Federal Government’s Investing in Our Communities grant program has chipped in $500,000, $1.6 million is coming from the City of Greater Bendigo, and $180,000 has been raised by user groups including the Golden Square Football/Netball Club and the Golden Square Cricket Club.
Stage one was completed in December of 2025, and it’s expected that stage two will be done by this May.
