IT will be a case of all locks off in one fell swoop at the Cambrian Hotel next month when local Larissa Denham shaves her head to raise money for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.

Ms Denham said the experiences of several family members and friends are the motivation behind her efforts.

“I just want this to not be about me, but about giving up my own vanity and self-insecurities to do something that actually counts,” she said.

“It’s ultimately about making myself vulnerable and the most uncomfortable I’ve ever felt, to be selfless and put myself in a position that so many don’t have a choice about.

“We all talk about how we can’t do anything or change the world because we are time poor, financially struggling, mentally not ok, and that’s totally fine.

“But there are moments and opportunities where you can just show up, relax and let go for a small amount of your life, and that will make a difference. Whether it’s donations or moral support, it all makes a difference.”

It’s all happening from 3pm on Saturday, 14 May at the Cambrian Hotel at 200 Arnold Street North Bendigo, with the big shave set to take place around 3.30pm.

“I’d love to invite everyone to what’s going to be a fun day at my favourite local establishment, with face painting, great food and drinks in a beautiful beer garden with the people I love around me,” Ms Denham said.
