Harlowe childcare centre closer
CONSTRUCTION of a new early learning centre in the Harlowe development at Huntly is expected to begin within months.
The centre, designed by Bruce Henderson Architects and planned to accommodate more than 120 children, is expected to open next year.
The City of Greater Bendigo approved the project late last year.
According to Harlowe developer Wel.Co, a United Workers Union survey of childcare centres had found that more than 90 per cent of Victorian early learning centres had waitlists for new families – and one-third of families would wait more than a year for a childcare place.
Wel.Co founder and managing director Andrew Welsh said the decision to invest in a childcare centre as part of the Harlowe development underscored Wel.Co’s commitment to providing essential services that enhanced quality of life for regional families and helped fill local needs.
“We are thrilled to be delivering a childcare centre in Harlowe, contributing to the local community be addressing the critical need for accessible childcare facilities,” Mr Welsh said. “We understand the challenges faced by families in regional areas, and we are committed to providing a solution that not only meets but exceeds their expectations.”
