HEATHCOTE on Show is scheduled to return for the first time in two years this Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

Both the 2020 and 2021 festivals were cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but Heathcote Tourism and Development president Peter Young said organisers were keen to turn things around for the 11 to 13 June celebrations.

“We really want to open with a bang this year and hope that people who visit have a wonderful time,” he said.

“Heathcote on Show is all about exploring our region, visiting venues and meeting the owners. Thirty-seven venues are part of the official program that will be opening their doors to visitors including wine, food and live entertainment [businesses].”

After two years without its biggest tourist draw card, Mr Young said the Heathcote region could be in for a boost.

“Heathcote on Show is the major event on the local calendar, with benefits for local accommodation, cafes and retailers, as well as the 37 official venues,” he said.

“An independent economic impact study on the 2019 event estimated a benefit to the community of over $1.5 million, which provides an enormous stimulus for our town.”

A major element to this year’s program is a shuttle bus service planned to tour 16 of the region’s wineries so attendees can visit several venues in a day.

“Visitors staying in Bendigo will also be able to catch an express to join the shuttle service,” Mr Young said.

More information will be released in the lead up to the event via the Heathcote on Show website and social media pages.
