THE Australian Alpaca National Show returns to its spiritual home at the Bendigo Showgrounds tomorrow (Friday 8 August) for a weekend of parades and judging, as well as trade stands offering everything from luxurious alpaca fleece products to unique, one-of-a-kind handmade crafts.

The show is organised by the Australian Alpaca Association (AAA), which this year celebrates 35 years of “alpaca excellence.”

With more than 180,000 registered alpacas, Australia is home to one of the largest breeding herds in the world.

Renowned for their exceptional fleece, alpacas produce one of the world’s most sought-after natural fibres, renowned for its softness, durability and sustainability.

The fleece comes in 22 naturally occurring colours, from pure white to black, along with a wide spectrum of browns, fawns and greys.

Show convenor Jonathon Provis-Vincent said he’s thrilled to be back for yet another year.

“It’s been an absolute privilege to help bring together Australia’s premier alpaca event,” he said.

“The passion and commitment of our amazing team has made this a standout celebration of the alpaca industry.

“This year’s show is particularly special as we celebrate 35 years of the Association – it’s a milestone that reflects how far we’ve come and we’re proud to mark the occasion with a strong lineup of local judges.

“Each year, the event continues to grow, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to join in the celebration.”

The Australian Alpaca National Show runs from tomorrow until Sunday at the Bendigo Showgrounds. Entry is free.
