A COCKTAIL-style soiree coming up in just under three weeks at MacKenzie Quarters will serve the dual purpose of celebrating a decade of Haven Home Safe’s Sidney Myer Haven and raising funds so the facility can continue its vital role in preventing homelessness and providing safe, secure housing.
Since opening its doors in October 2015, the haven has supported more than 82 adults and 43 children to move beyond homelessness and hardship.
The program also provides wrap-around support through its Shared Futures initiative, helping residents set and achieve personal goals.
A Social Return on Investment study in 2023 revealed that for every $1 invested in Sidney Myer Haven, $12.99 of social and economic value is created – proof that compassion and community are not just good for people but good for society, according to Haven Home Safe.
The not-for-profit’s CEO, Trudi Ray, said the event is both a celebration of impact and a call to action.
“For 10 years, Sidney Myer Haven has shown what’s possible when housing and support come together,” she said.
“We’re incredibly proud of the people who have rebuilt their lives through the program, and we’re inviting the community to join us in ensuring this vital work continues for the next decade and beyond.”
Haven Home Safe’s 10 Years of Sidney Myer Haven Celebration takes place on Thursday 27 November at MacKenzie Quarters.
Tickets, which cost $110 and include a selection of canapes, plus beer, wine and soft drinks, can be purchased on the Humanitix website.
