Hosts wanted for important day
THE Mother’s Day Classic Foundation is on the search for someone to host the 2022 event in Bendigo.
The local Classic honours those affected by breast cancer and raises vital funds for research is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 8 May.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the MDC which has raised about $40 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Each year, there are about 100 events across Australia featuring people running, jogging or walking for the cause.
“We are on the hunt for an event host to help bring to life the 2022 Mother’s Day Classic in Bendigo and play an important role in raising funds for breast cancer research,” said Zara Lawless, CEO of the Mother’s Day Classic.
“Being an event host involves securing the event location, helping to plan the event logistics and managing the recruitment of volunteers, all with the support of the Mother’s Day Classic team.”
The host will also help spread the word of the event throughout the community in schools, businesses and groups, encouraging people to form teams and help fundraise for the Classic.
They will be paired with a full-time MDC employee and are in charge of maintaining the running of the day from about 7am to 2pm.
“The Bendigo community have always been fantastic supporters of their local event,” Ms Lawless said.
“We can’t wait to start working with the next event host to celebrate the 25th Mother’s Day Classic.”
