How to use AI in business
THE hot topic of artificial intelligence and how it applies to improving business productivity will be covered in an upcoming workshop with Mingle Media’s Briana Cowan.
While the unknowns surrounding AI may be overwhelming, Ms Cowan said it can be seen as an extra staff member.
“The way I treat AI is just like having an intern,” she said. “You need to tell that AI, that intern, everything about your business in order to get the best results back from that.
“Not just asking it questions, but getting it to ask you questions as well. It’s like you’re having a two-way conversation.
“This is really important because the smarter it becomes, the better output it’s going to deliver to you.”
Ms Cowan said AI is helpful in reworking a piece of writing.
“For example, they might be writing an email, perhaps to a client or a customer, and they want to reword it slightly,” she said.
“So they would write it out and then run it through AI. They’d instruct AI how they want the tone of it to sound or what the overall objective is, and then AI will redo that copy to how you’ve instructed it to.”
Ms Cowan cautioned local business owners with any misgivings that if they don’t embrace it, they could be left behind. “Now’s the time to jump on because absolutely, I will guarantee that your competitors are on it. It’s just getting over that fear factor and actually embracing it,” she said.
The AI in Business: Boosting Productivity and Sparking Creativity workshop takes place on Friday 9 August from 10.30am to 12pm at Quality Hotel Lakeside.
Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
