THE Central Highlands Pleasure Harness Club is welcoming new members following a booked out graded dressage day three weeks ago.

The Huntly-based club trains riders of all ages in a variety of pleasure harness driving including dressage, cone, obstacle, combined and even show driving, and events secretary Hilary Billett said beginners are also welcome.

“We will help anyone with their gear or getting their pony started in harness, so anyone is welcome to come down and have a look,” she said.

Children as young as five can join in club activities alongside a parent and publicity officer Dianne Aulsebrook said members of all skill levels can learn from experienced staff at the club, part of the Australian Carriage Driving Society.

“There are all sorts of levels of expertise in different areas so there is always someone there that can help another,” she said. “Safety of the horse and the driver is absolute paramount.

“It’s a really healthy environment where people can be constantly learning from one another.”

Spectators are welcome at the club’s dressage day this weekend from 9am at 455 Millwood Rd, Huntly.

New and experienced riders interested in joining the CHPHC can visit their Facebook page or club page on australiancarriagedrivingsocietyvic.org.au.
