Last weekend of science filled summer fun
THE Discovery Centre’s Summer of Science! is coming to a close in just a few days, so this weekend is your final chance to get down and catch all the latest shows and exhibits.
Science communicator Kendal Fairweather said there is still plenty to do over the final two days of the Summer of Science! before centre closes for construction until March.
“We have got a science show twice a day and that’s Bringing the beach to Bendigo talking about the science you can see if you get to visit the beach,” Mx Fairweather said.
“We have all of our exhibits out on the floor, over 100 of them, and we have our slide which is running three times a day.”
There is also a chance for the thrifty out there to win a free family membership for the rest of the year Mx Fairweather said.
“We also have a treasure hunt which is about exploring the centre, finding things with a couple of clues, drawing a little treasure map and then visitors are welcome to submit that for the chance to win a family membership,” Mx Fairweather said.
With the season coming to an end, Mx Fairweather said it had been an enjoyable summer season with the number of people coming through the Discovery Centre’s doors.
“It’s been a lot of great fun having people in through the centre and just enjoying the space,” Mx Fairweather said.
“It’s so much more fun to be here and to work here when it’s full of people and the sounds of joy.”
“It’s really inspiring for me doing my job knowing that people are here having fun and I get to help create that.”
