LIFELINE Loddon Mallee is seeking caring community members from the Heathcote and Bendigo areas to consider becoming crisis support volunteers.
Online volunteer information sessions are now open for registration.
The sessions, on Tuesday 31 March at 10am and Thursday 9 April at 1pm, are the first step in joining Lifeline’s accredited volunteer training program.
“Our volunteers are at the heart of who we are,” said Lisa Renato, CEO of Lifeline Loddon Mallee.
“Every call represents a person in distress, and our region needs more trained volunteers to ensure no one faces their darkest moments alone.”
Lifeline Loddon Mallee operates a call centre in Bendigo, providing crisis support across the region.
Accredited training is completed by volunteers online before joining a community-led team.
The team is committed to support for people experiencing emotional crisis, suicidal thoughts, family stress or loneliness.
“These sessions are a chance for people to understand the role, ask questions, and explore whether volunteering is right for them,” said Ms Renato.
“We welcome retirees, professionals, students, and anyone who wants to make a meaningful contribution to our community.”
Anyone who would like to learn more about the role, training and how they can make a difference can contact 5406 0506 to register their interest.
“These sessions are relaxed and informative with no commitment required,” said Ms Renato.
“It’s simply a chance to learn and ask questions.”
