A BENDIGO Powercor linesman has received acknowledgment for being the Most Outstanding Apprentice for the company’s northern region annual awards ceremony.

Heald on 15 June at Junction Oval in Melbourne, Jarrod Findlay was chosen from a pool of apprentices working in Echuca, Shepparton, Cobram, and Mildura, all of whom work to construct and maintain overhead powerlines.

Powercor Bendigo field leader Craig McCarron praised the second-year apprentice.

“Jarrod has been an outstanding apprentice with a great positive attitude and is always willing to help,” said Mr McCarron.

“He’s like a sponge, just wants to learn and do the best job he can. I have never heard him complain about anything and the whole team loves working with him.”

Mr Findlay said the candidates weren’t told “too much” about what the criteria for winning the awards were, but it was basically for his “eagerness to learn and use initiative.”

He also said he was almost halfway through his four-year apprenticeship, and that there were about a dozen apprentices in the northern region, including four in Bendigo.
