THERE’S nothing like a dip in the pool to keep you cool in summer, and Bendigo has plenty of facilities to choose from.

For five-year-old Ava, the Gurri Wanyarra Wellbeing Centre’s splash park is unbeatable and her mother, Kayla Price, said it was her daughter’s first choice when the heat hits.

“If I could take her here every night after school, I would,” Ms Price said.

“Ava loves the fact that the bucket fills up and it splashes, that’s her favourite thing out of the entire playground.

“Since the day she was born she’s loved the water, you can’t get her away from it.”

The centre is located in Kangaroo Flat on Browning Street and also features heated and toddler pools.

Young ones can also get their fun fix for free at the Long Gully Splash Park at 21 Cuneen Street, open every day from 9am to 8pm.

Mother of two Tania Craggs is planning to take her young kids to a pool fortnightly this summer to help keep up the skills they’ve developed in their swimming lessons.

Ms Craggs said she felt it was important to get her 19-month-old daughter Elena into classes now that her seven-year-old son Levi has developed a passion for splashing.

“He loves the pool especially since he’s started swimming lessons with school. Anything that splashes and he’s right there,” Ms Craggs said.

“One thing that I regretted with Levi was that I didn’t put him in swimming lessons when he was little, so it’s something that I put as a high priority for our daughter.”

If you’re looking to dive a little deeper or test your swimming speed, you can head to the 50 metre pools at Bendigo East, Brennan Park, Golden Square and White Hills swimming pools, or the Faith Leech and Peter Krenz centres. Toddler pools and a kiosk or cafe are also at each location.

For the most up-to-date opening hours, be sure to check out each facility’s website or Facebook page.
