PAINT the town red, pink, yellow and blue at Nacho Station’s upcoming free sidewalk mural workshop in Hargreaves Mall.

From 11am to 4pm on Saturday, 29 May the artist collective will guide participants of all ages in a chalk-based Mary Quant mural commissioned by the City, and Nacho Station organiser Reece Hendy said the experience builds on artists’ previous work in a unique way.

“We’ve already done a couple of pavement artworks around town being at the Piazza in the centre of town and also one on Lyttleton Terrace and that’s added a bit of colour to the streets, but what we wanted to do was make a more accessible and interactive version of these artworks so we’re doing a bit of a Mall takeover where the public can come and help out,” he said.

“The main inspiration for this one is for people to connect with the exhibition but also feel like they’re a part of it.

“They’re not just witnessing what’s happening in their town they’re actually getting involved and they can wear it as a little badge of honour that they’ve been involved in something like this.

“The design will be Quant, 60s, fashion inspired but there’s also a little bit of room to move so we’re going to have some templates that makes it really easy for any skill level to get involved but there might also be some areas for people to add their own creative flair as well.”

The workshop will be divided into half an hour sessions and capped at five participants each. To book a spot visit bit.ly/3fnTUGk.
