Man stumbles into Bendigo bar after stabbing

Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a man was seriously injured in a suspected stabbing in Bendigo overnight.
Emergency services were called to a sports bar on Hargreaves Street about 9pm on Thursday, June 4, after reports an injured man had stumbled into the venue seeking help.
The 41-year-old man was treated by ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital in a serious condition with suspected stab wounds.
Police believe the man, who had been living on the streets, was set upon by up to six offenders after an altercation in nearby Bath Lane.
Investigators have been told the man made his way from the laneway to the sports bar after the alleged attack, while the offenders fled the scene.
The group involved is believed to have been made up of teenagers.
Local detectives and police have canvassed CCTV from the area and spoken with witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
A search of the surrounding area failed to locate those involved.
Detectives are expected to return to the area in the morning as they continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with information who has not yet spoken to investigators, to come forward.
