A NUMBER of local bodies have received grants worth a total of $121,859 via the latest round of the City of Greater Bendigo’s Medium Community Grants program.
Each year council allocates approximately $850,000 through its various Grants Program categories.
The Medium Grants provide up to $10,000 to community groups to help them afford essential items that support activities aligning with the aims of either Greater Bendigo’s Council Plan 2021-2025 or a local community plan.
“The Community Grants Program is fantastic for local groups as they would often not be able to undertake important activities that benefit our community without this funding,” City healthy communities and environments director Jess Howard said.
In this latest round, 17 out of 32 applications received were successful in obtaining funding.
For example, Epsom Primary School’s Sawdust and Smiles Intergenerational Project with Huntly Men’s Shed was allocated $10,000, while the Bendigo Strikers Cricket Club received the same amount for the renewal of cricket training nets at Albert Roy Recreation Reserve.
Long Gully Neighbourhood Centre Community Gardens welcomed $6190 for the replacement of a rusted rainwater tank with two 28,000 litre tanks, and the Golden City Pipe Band received $5750 to go towards its annual Scots on Show Highland Gathering.
Bendigo Sustainability Group received $5000 for its Bendigo Sustainability Festival at the Garden for the Future and Spring Gully United Soccer Club $5000 for refurbishing its club room with a new projector, screen and chairs.
