TWO forums will take place in the leadup to the State election, aiming to give the community an opportunity to meet and question local candidates.

The Bendigo West forum will take place on Monday, 14 November at the Y Club Hall followed by the Bendigo East candidates at the Bendigo East Hall on Thursday, 17 November.

Both forums will run from 7pm to 8.30pm, hosted by Bike Bendigo, Bendigo Sustainability Group, and the Australian Conservation Foundation’s local branch.

“We see it as a public service to allow the community to get to know what these candidates stand for,” BSG president Colin Lambie said.

“Whether it’s action on climate change, transport, biodiversity, reducing emissions, increasing renewable energies, or building social housing.

“The public have a right to know. They can look at websites… but I think a lot of people like to hear it from the horse’s mouth.”

The ten invited candidates will receive questions based on concerns of the organising groups.

“Then the audience are invited to ask anything of them whether it’s from their way of thinking, or ours.”
