FINALLY on the road and touring, rock and soul band Leslie D. King and the Trembling Shakes are bringing their high energy show to Bendigo this Saturday.

After starting his career as a solo rock artist, lead singer King decided to switch it up and focus on a more soul and blues sound, recruiting five band mates in the process.

The band released their first self-titled EP in September last year. Not only was the entire record produced during COVID-19 lockdowns, but the pandemic also saw their debut tour pushed back.

The EP sees King combining his personal song writing and powerful voice with his band’s bluesy guitars, harmonies, and occasional horns, resulting in songs that he hopes will get you out of your seat.

“We’re probably doing a lot more upbeat and party-type sets, but ever since the start there’s always been a real focus on connecting with the audience and getting them to feel the emotion behind each song,” King said.

King said his band is also booked to play the Bendigo Blues and Roots Music Festival later this year.

“One of my friends has played in the Bendigo blues scene for years and I’ve been up and watched him and met a lot of people up there, it’s fantastic up there,” he said.

“The amount of comradery the artists and people have between each other, you can tell it’s a really strong community of music and friendship.”

Catch Leslie D. King and the Trembling Shakes at the Old Church on the Hill at 7pm, supported by Alister Turrill and Mariah McCarthy. For tickets head to bit.ly/3toGxy3.
