MINING company Arnico Eagle has helped out with funding for a proposed paediatric rehabilitation play space at Bendigo Hospital.

The play area will be for children undergoing rehabilitation treatments at the new clinical services campus.

Chief corporate affairs officer at Bendigo Health, Sarah McAdie, said the playground would support the sick and injured children in the region.

“More than 100 children are treated by our rehabilitation teams at any one time and this play space will offer paediatric patients a fun and appealing environment,” said Ms McAdie.

“There is no other available play space within the hospital precinct, nor a dedicated facility in our region, where children can safely engage with therapists during their rehabilitation sessions.”

Arnico Eagle vice-president of operations in Australia, Ion Hann, said the company was proud to support the project through its Community Partnership Program.

“Our children in our region deserve the best rehabilitation facilities and this is just a small way we can contribute to that,” he said.

“We are pleased to deepen our ties with Bendigo Health, who is a tremendous community partner.”

The effort to raise money for the playground is ongoing and in the past the push has received backing from events and groups as diverse as the Abott Foundation, the Bendigo Fun Run, the town’s annual Christmas Carols event.
