THIS spring is the perfect time to get the family together and enjoy a free activity in town.

With that in mind the City of Bendigo is holding a special spring edition of Summer in the Parks, sponsored by Fosterville Gold Mine, coinciding with the tulip campaign which launched last week.

City of Greater Bendigo manager of tourism and major events Terry Karamaloudis said there will be tulip-themed events, activities for kids and live music and outdoor movies, held under current COVID restrictions.

“Summer in the Parks Spring Edition is the perfect excuse to have some fun and enjoy our great outdoors when the tulips are blooming and the city looks so lovely this time of year,” Mr Karamaloudis said.

“We have put together a COVID-safe program that includes music in our beautiful parks and gardens, a new virtual Tulip Hunt using a mobile phone app and outdoor cinema events at Garden for the Future.

“We’ve also planned an Active Kids program featuring Connect Circus, sporting activities and roving characters during the school holidays so there’s plenty of ways to entertain children.

“It’s also an opportunity to support our local businesses, enjoy a lunch or grab a takeaway for a picnic in the park.”

Mr Karamaloudis said he expects spaces to be filled quickly and encourages people to book online.

“Residents are advised to keep an eye on our Bendigo Tourism website for the latest updates as events may be subject to change due to inclement weather or changes to restrictions,” he said.

The traditional Summer in the Parks event is expected to return in December.
