More tickets for booked-out screening
CELEBRATE your first moments of further pandemic freedoms on Friday night by watching a free movie under the stars in the Garden for the Future.
Kids flick, Think Like a Dog, will be screened at the family friendly event, held in celebration of Children’s Week.
After booking out in just three days, community wellbeing officer at the City of Greater Bendigo, Kristy Bennett, said the event was open to another 100 people in line with the new restrictions.
“Particularly in the current environment and what children have experienced in the last close to two years, I think it’s a really nice opportunity for families to go out and connect and be out in the community enjoying themselves,” she said.
She said the movie aligned well with the annual week’s theme, teaching kids about forging friendships and connecting with others.
“This is certainly nicely reflected in this movie that we’ve selected for the fun, family night out,” Ms Bennett said.
The event is scheduled for a 6pm start, with the movie to play from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or chair and dinner, and those aged 16 years and over will need to show proof of their full vaccination status.
Ms Bennett said the City was planning more public activities following the easing of restrictions, with a few already scheduled.
“From here on in we’ll be able to provide more events and we’ve got another couple planned till the end of the year,” she said.
“We’ve got one happening in November and another one in December, so we’ll be able to provide more families with these opportunities.”
