GET the jump on a gift for mum at Oxart Pottery’s Mother’s Day market this Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Pottery co-owner Ian McColl and his partner will host about 10 stallholders at their property at 128 High Street, Taradale.

“A market seemed like a good way to bring community together in Taradale and also to give some of my friends and people that I’ve worked with over the years an opportunity to have a different kind of market,” Mr McColl said.

“It’s very small scale but just a lovely atmosphere to come and enjoy.

“We’ll have a range of artists and craftspeople from potters to painters, we’ve got some macrame, a few different items like that.”

Once a service station, the pair converted the space into a gallery and workshop after purchasing two years ago.

“We’ve had a really good response even though we’ve been in and out of lockdowns over the last couple of years. We’ve had lots and lots of people doing classes, coming through the gallery,” Mr McColl said.

He’s also in the process of building a studio onsite to continue a four-decade career in pottery and the arts.

“We just love central Victoria, it’s such a fantastic place for the arts and for tourism as well to get people coming through,” he said.
