THIS weekend, Heathcote is the place to be and there’s a packed schedule at Munari Wines.

General manager India Munari, said from 12pm to 5pm on Saturday, 11 June and from 1pm to 6pm on Sunday, 12 June, live performances, and free tastings will take over the historic vineyard for the Mid-Winter Weekend of Music, part of Heathcote on Show.

“We’ve got some wonderful regional musicians as well as some musicians up from Melbourne to entertain,” she said.

“It’ll be our standard beautiful intimate tastings in the cellar door.

“People can enjoy the warmth of the rustic cellar door which was once the stables for the property, it’s full of beautiful antiques and gorgeous artwork which is lovely in the middle of winter.

“We’ll have a big marquee with a stage, so people don’t have to worry about rain. We’ll have an outdoor bar which is a silo bar, we’ve converted an old silo into a bar so that’ll be by the glass or by the bottle for people who want to have a drink and enjoy the music.”

Performing bands include Funk Junkies, Brothers in Harmony and HARLEM.

On Saturday night from 6pm, a special event featuring much-loved Echuca artist Benny Walker, Melbourne blues rock artist Jess Parker and Geelong based pianist Izzy Losi will take place.

Ms Munari said Heathcote on Show is the premiere annual event in the town, and all wine producers were keen to get involved.

“From February to late April, we’ve got our heads down in the winery,” she said.

“Through May is when you get a breath of air and start to plan a big event like this… it’s the first opportunity after vintage for us to focus on a big event.

“Heathcote’s a really dry area and in the wintertime it looks beautiful. Of course, we’re in this La Nina episode so there has been extra rain around, but we’re confident it won’t matter.”

The weekend is free, however the Saturday night event is priced. Transport will be available from the Bendigo and Heathcote visitor centres.
