A FORMER two-time Bendigo Rotary president and resident of 46 years has written a book about the importance of following your passion.

Larrie Winzar, who now lives in Point Lonsdale, said profits from sales of the book will go towards local and global Rotary projects involved with improving the lives of women and girls.

Since 2000, Winzar has run a life coaching business called Follow Your Bliss, and her new book, Bliss, tells of all she’s learnt and includes a workbook for readers to gain clarity on what they want out of life.

“When I die in 20 years’ time or 30 years’ time, that’ll be 103, I don’t want all the knowledge and wisdom that I’ve accumulated to be lost,” she said.

“Because I’ve got a formula that actually works for people who are stuck or disenchanted or lost with their career.”

Winzar said over the years she has coached thousands of people to refine their direction, and the book is for anyone aged 15 to 85-plus and divided into three stages of life.

“It’s about living with passion and purpose,” she said.

Winzar said the name of her business, and now the book, came from a magnet with a quote by American writer Joseph Campbell falling off the fridge twice.

The quote goes “If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living.

“That’s my philosophy, if you’re doing things that are going to make you happy and they’ve got meaning and purpose and fulfillment, you’re on the right track,” said Winzar.

“When we’re stuck, we’ve actually got all the answers inside us, we’ve just got to ask the right questions.

“If you follow your bliss, you’ll probably be making a difference in a lot of other people’s lives.

“You won’t be doing it for the money, but the money will come because you’ll be looking at work where your skills, knowledge, values, interests, passions, and personality all come together.”

The author will be holding a book launch fundraiser event at Rotary Gateway Park in Kangaroo Flat on Sunday 19 November from 4pm to 6pm and search Trybooking for more information.
