New designs for Pioneers
WITH season 2023 right around the corner, the Bendigo Pioneers will take to the footy field this year in new-look jerseys.
The updated strips were created in partnership with La Trobe University and come with a special backstory.
The redesign was headed by former Pioneers head talent scout David Meade who passed away in October, before seeing the designs come to fruition.
Mr Meade wanted to develop a new logo that would represent both the boys’ and girls’ programs, as well as highlighting the strength of the region.
He also sought to create a new clash jumper for the side.
To continue Mr Meade’s vision La Trobe University’s Melinda Keighran and Bendigo Bank creative director Jacinta Wright worked on the project, with input from current players.
The new jersey contains an inset shape that signifies the Pioneers’ coverage area that includes the Bendigo, Central Murray, Sunraysia and Goulbourn Murray districts.
It also includes a set of goalposts that were added at the request of current players who said it symbolised a winning mindset.
The Bendigo Pioneers are part of the under-18 NAB state league which acts as one of the major player pathways to the AFL and AFLW.
