KENNINGTON is getting a new kindergarten next to its primary school, one of eight to be built across the state by the Victorian government.

Premier Jacinta Allan visited the Armstrong Creek East Children’s Centre today (Friday, July 26) with Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney to announce the eight kinders, which will all be completed and be ready to open at the start of Term 1, 2026.

The kinders, which will collectively create more than 1,000 new places for children, are being built in communities where there is high demand.

In Kennington, the new kinder will be co-located with Kennington Primary School in Crook Street.

Every parent knows mornings can be chaotic,” Ms Allan said.

“It’s why we’re making things that little bit easier – making drop-offs faster and simpler with more kinders on school sites right across the state.

“Today’s announcement will give local families with little ones confidence they can rely on a great kinder close to home.”

The Victorian government says it has opened 16 kinders so far this year and will open 20 more in 2025 and another 21 (including the eight announced today) in 2026.

“We’re building hundreds of kinders at schools across the state, helping to meet local demand – and ensuring every young Victorian can get the best start in life,” Minister for Children Lizzie Blandthorn said.
