Non-profit appoints new board

NEW additions to the board of directors of disability service provider Amicus have announced.

Stan Liacos will step into the role of chair after a term as CEO of Queen Victoria Markets, where he was involved in the redevelopment of the Melbourne site.

Mr Liacos is an long-time company director, familiar in the region after 10 years under his belt as former senior executive at the City of Greater Bendigo.

The new chair has also held executive positions at Federation Square, Melbourne Docklands Authority, and was head of the Geelong Waterfront development.

Also new to the Amicus board of directors is Leigh Svendsen, with a statement from the orgnisation saying he’s an advocate for progressive healthcare, and a registered nurse.

According to Amicus, Ms Svendsen’s background and commitment to community development is aligned with the company’s own key values.

A statement said the new additions were selected for the diversity of their experience the insights they will bring to the not-for-profit organisation.

Mr Liacos’ appointment comes as current chair Paul Somerville completes his time with the Bendigo-based disability support services provider.

Their services span aged care, supported independent living, short term accommodation and capacity building and are available through the NDIS.
