THE program for the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra’s 2023 season has been released and combines fan favourites and classics with some lesser-known gems.

The first performance for the year titled Unfinished will take place at The Capital Saturday, 11 March at 7.30pm with a matinee a day later starting 2.30pm.

Programs two, three and four will be held in June, September and November with the concerts to take place at Ulumbarra Theatre.

Unfinished will feature the works of Beethoven and Schubert, with soloist Elyane Laussade to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in C, Op. 15.

BSO artistic director Luke Severn said he is excited by Juilliard trained Laussade taking to the stage and encouraged people to not miss out on seeing her perform.

“She is known for her imaginative and individual playing style and has performed to audiences on five continents,” he said.

“Laussade is considered to be one of the most promising and talented pianists of her generation and her appearance in the Bendigo Symphony Orchestra’s program will be a great opportunity to hear her play live.”

Severn said the Orchestra’s later programs will also be well worth catching.

“The season promises to be a truly memorable experience for audiences of all ages and backgrounds,” he said.

“Audiences will be treated to a wide range of compositions, world-class musicians, experienced conductors, and an opportunity to hear international and local soloists in action.”
