OUTDOOR fitness equipment is set to be installed along the Lake Neangar walking path near the car park at the Eaglehawk Bowls Club.

City of Greater Bendigo staff will install the equipment that includes a balance station, arm bike, line markings for leg exercises and exercise bikes this month.

The devices will also include touchscreens and Bluetooth connectivity.

Signage with instructions on how to use the equipment properly will also be installed with public feedback from other fitness stations in Kangaroo Flat and Long Gully helping decide the equipment selected.

The City’s manager of active and healthy communities Amy Johnston said she was hoping the fitness equipment will encourage Eaglehawk residents and visitors to be more active.

“The instillation of the fitness equipment at Lake Neangar will provide the community with access to free exercise equipment along the existing walking track,” she said.

“As the equipment is free to use and easily accessible, it will hopefully encourage members of the community to increase their physical activity and improve health and wellbeing outcomes.”

The installation is expected to take four weeks to install and comes at a cost of $127,500.
