THE Anglican Parish of Kangaroo Flat’s annual fair is shaping up to be a jam-packed day, full of community fun, on Saturday, 6 November from 8am to 2pm.

Organiser Geoff Young said there will be everything from trash and treasure, plants, baked goods, preserves, and books on offer.

There will also be a free concert performed by the Bendigo District Concert Band and local musician Kim Ritchie, as well as a barbecue lunch.

“We’ve got a well-oiled machine, we’ve been running a parish fair every year since the mid-1990s, it’s got bigger as time got on,” he said.

“Recently we introduced a free concert in the church itself.”

Mr Young said while the challenge of checking patrons’ vaccination status is a new one, parishioners are excited to be able to hold and attend the event in its entirety.

“People were just so appreciative of the opportunity to once again be involved in a community activity,” he said. “Things like the fair draw people together.

“A church is a true community service group. It’s not just about a group of people stereotypically meeting on a Sunday morning, some churches it may be like that, but ours certainly isn’t.

“We’re involved in the community, so I like to see that opportunity to have the community involved in this.”

As well as people selling their goods, there will be a number of invited stall holders, including the VIEW Club, 105.1 Life FM, U3A, the Code 9 Foundation, Girl Guides and Cancer4Kids fundraisers.

“Apart from the opportunity for them to raise funds, it’s also an opportunity for them to raise their profile,” Mr Young said.

The Annual Parish Fair will be held at St Mary’s Anglican Church, 193-195 High Street, Kangaroo Flat, with access off Church and Bank Street.
