MOUTH watering delights are being served hot and fresh at the newest takeaway spot on Hargreaves Street.

Elias Bachaalany’s Doughpe and Dogs establishment has made the move from food van to shop front, finally opening the doors for hungry customers looking for an evening treat.

“The response has been good,” Mr Bachaalany said. “We got a huge following from the van so people are keen to see us back in action. New menu, new items, everybody’s excited to try everything out and we’re excited to see everyone again as well.”

The store is currently operating from 5pm to 10pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 5pm to late on Fridays and Saturdays at 238 Hargreaves Street.

Expanding the business has allowed for Doughpe to make way for new products, with loaded hotdogs new to the menu.

Mr Bachaalany launched his food van business nine months ago in Flora Hill but quickly outgrew the limited space.

He said he’s amassed a dedicated following that have supported his business through the toughest points of the pandemic.

“Our following isn’t just foot traffic, it’s people that want our product,” he said. They’ll come out and get it, even if there’s a lockdown we’ll provide delivery. I think we can make it through.”

The current operating hours are a trial and may change based on customer response.

“We might end up as a Friday, Saturday night joint, we might end up as a six-day joint. It just depends on that demand,” Mr Bachaalany said.
