March 31, 2023 BY

IT’S registration time for family pets with more than twenty-one thousand rego renewals sent out this week by the City of Greater Bendigo.

Payments are due Monday, 10 April with more than 15,500 registered dogs and 5500 cats on the City’s database.

Municipal manager of safe and healthy environments Jack Schofield said all pets of a certain age need to be registered.

“All dogs and cats over the age of three months must be registered with the City and microchipped,” he said.

Mr Schofield said it was important to register your pets with there being numerous advantages.

“It is really important pet owners re-register their pets and know the benefits,” he said.

“Pet registration is a basic measure that can help ensure the pet is returned if it gets lost or escapes from a property.

“Registration fees go towards the City’s local law services that respond to wandering dogs, dog attacks, nuisance problems like barking dogs, cat trespass and un-owned animals.”

Pet registrations can be paid online at bendigo.vic.gov.au or in person at CoGB offices in Bendigo or Heathcote.
