Pledge to extend Huntly Primary
STAFF and students at Huntly Primary School have been promised new buildings should Labor win November’s State Election.
Deputy Premier and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan made the $13 million pledge on Monday, which would see the school expand to cater to 100 additional enrolments.
“I’m thrilled to make an important election commitment for Huntly Primary and the broader Huntly community,” she said.
“We’ve been talking to the school about the pressures of growth in Huntly, so I’m thrilled a re-elected Andrews Labor Government would invest these funds in new school buildings here to accommodate that growth.
“This will continue to build on the great work here at the school.”
Alongside Huntly Primary School, more than $9 million has been pledged to White Hills Primary School to help implement stage two of their masterplan.
Ms Allan said the pledge highlighted the State Government’s commitment to regional schools.
“The Andrews Labor Government has a very firm commitment in investing in our regional schools,” she said.
“Whether that’s investing in new buildings, but also importantly, investing in what goes on in schools.”
Huntly Primary School can cater to 275 students, with 11 classrooms, and a 12th portable building expected to be introduced next year.
The State previously allocated more than $250,000 to the school for outdoor hard courts.
