Popular author destined for Bendigo
LOCAL book enthusiasts are in for a treat with the visit of best-selling writer Heather Morris in the coming days.
She’ll be presenting a free talk at the Bendigo Library about her path to becoming an author and behind the scenes anecdotes about her much loved trilogy of published titles.
Heather’s debut – The Tattooist of Auschwitz – has sold over five-million copies and spent 20 weeks at number one on the New York Times Trade Paperback Fiction list.
Ahead of the event, Morris described being in a room with readers as her “happy place,” especially the opportunity to “talk, answer questions, and hear other stories.”
“Audience interaction is what I live for,” she said.
“While in some structured situations questions come from the audience at the end, I do prefer a more relaxed event, and invite people to interrupt me and ask questions while I am talking about my books, other peoples’ stories, the writing, and research process of bringing the novels to the reader.
“In a funny way, what I do when talking in front of an audience, is entertain them.
“We have all been locked in, locked out, for nearly two years, so I appreciate any opportunity to be with, not just me, but others attending who share the same interest and passion in something together.”
Morris’ talk and book signing at the Bendigo Library is happening on Friday, 10 December between 6pm and 7pm.
