GROOVIN’ the Moo is just around the corner and Spiderbait and Aussie rock ledgend Kram said he can’t wait to get on stage in front of thousands at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds on Saturday, 30 April.

“It’s going to be awesome,” he said. “Considering what’s transpired in the last few years, any show is a blessing.

“Whether it’s COVID or whatever circumstance it’s been tough for a lot of performers so any show is wonderful, particularly a big festival like Groovin the Moo which we love playing, it’s going to be sick.”

After the last two iterations of Groovin’ the Moo were cancelled, the organisers put together a packed line-up with big Australian music names like Montaigne, Hilltop Hoods, Peking Duk and Spiderbait joined by international acts including Thomas Headon and Milky Chance.

The drummer and singer of ARIA Award-winning band Spiderbait said there’s no real way to prepare for a festival like Groovin’ the Moo.

The event is set for the Prince of Wales Showgrounds.

“We just sort of get up there and do it,” he said. “I guess we’ve been playing together for so long, it’s kind of bazaar how we can just immediately lock back into a vibe, and the audience has such a massive effect on that.

“It’s very symbiotic the relationship between our band and the audience, it’s a crucial part of the whole thing.

“Every time you walk out on stage it’s such a euphoric experience, so you’ve just got to go for it.”

Hailing from Finley in southern New South Wales, Spiderbait formed in 1989 when Janet English, Damian Whitty, and Kram, real name Mark Maher, met and started performing in local gigs.

Since then, the band has released seven albums and a heap of singalong anthems including Calypso, Buy Me a Ponyand their cover of Black Betty.

This year’s Groovin’ the Moo will be the band’s third appearance at the festival and first in Bendigo.
