Schools to get upgrades

STUDENTS at Epsom Primary will soon have a new outdoor learning space after the school shared in just less than two hundred and thirty thousand dollars of Commonwealth funding.

Epsom PS has received $25,000 to fund the project as part of Federal Government’s Schools Upgrade program.

The school is one of 10 in the Bendigo electorate to receive a grant from the $32 million nationwide funding pool that’s aimed at improving school facilities around the country.

Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters said the news was terrific for the Bendigo region schools.

“Our local schools deserve great infrastructure and quality equipment to help students achieve their best,” she said.

“The Albanese Government is investing in a better and fairer education system, and this is terrific news for our local schools with more to come.

“This is a great outcome and I’m happy that we can deliver this funding to much-needed projects for our local schools.”

Applications were assessed by the Department of Education and grants were awarded based on need.

The funds can be used to refurbish or build new learning spaces, purchase equipment and develop school infrastructure.

Elphinstone and Marong Primary schools also received grants to develop their outdoor spaces and Eaglehawk North Primary has received funds to purchase new information technology equipment.

Other primary schools to receive money include Heathcote with $25,000 for a shade sail and IT upgrades, and Holy Rosary School, also at Heathcote with the same amount for outdoor learning spaces.

Axedale, Marong, Huntly, Quarry Hill primaries also received money, as did Kyneton High School
