NEW Year’s Eve at Bendigo’s very own science and technology centre is guaranteed to be a day and evening of fun for the whole family with STEM shows full of explosions and surprises, captivating planetarium sessions, and a treasure hunt sure to keep the little tackers engaged.

The Bendigo Discovery Centre at 7 Railway Place (adjacent to the train station car park) will be open from 10am with the usual school holiday activities, then from 5pm things will go up a notch with a bubble science show, dance party and face painting.

The festivities will conclude in time to head towards town for the New Year’s Eve early fireworks display at 9pm.

Discovery’s general manager Alissa Van Soest said the idea of the event is to give families with primary-aged kids something fun to do on what has traditionally been a somewhat idle evening for the young ones.

“Sometimes it’s tricky to know what to do to keep kids busy all the way through to the fireworks,” she said.

“Since we’re right in town, people can park up here and wander down to the fireworks. It’s a lovely little walk from Discovery, and parking is a lot easier than around the (CBD).”

Stem & Sparkles – NYE at Bendigo Discovery Centre takes place on Tuesday 31 December from 10am to 8.30pm.

Further information is available on the centre’s website.
