MARKING its forty-year anniversary, Victorian Seniors Festival will return to in-person events this October for a month-long statewide event.

The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Takin it easy’ and revolves around showcasing accessibility, both though face-to-face and online events to help seniors feel comfortable in taking part in the activities.

The Seniors Festival puts a focus on celebrating Victorians aged over 60 and their contributions to the community.

Event spokesperson Annie Collison said the Festival is a chance for seniors to broaden their environment and experiences while being recognised for all they do.

“It’s a great opportunity for like-minded seniors to get out and about in their local community and be recognised… for the contributions they make to their community, she said.

“After the past two years seniors have been some of the most vulnerable in our community, this is a great opportunity for them to get out and about with friends, family and celebrate.

“It’s a wonderful chance for them to get back into the community they have played a big part in building, especially in more regional communities it’s important for them to get back and involved in them.”

Bendigo events as part of the festival include country music star Tania Kernaghan performing her well known songs at The Capital Theatre on Thursday, 6 October, between 10.30am and 11.30am.

Also on Thursday, 6 October, lawn bowls are on offer at the Bendigo Bowling Club from 1pm to 3pm, with afternoon tea provided.

Meanwhile, the Bendigo Croquet Club are offering a taste of the sport with afternoon tea provided at the Quarry Hill greens.

Events range from free to low cost throughout October and for further information visit seniorsonline.vic.gov.au/victorian-seniors-festival.
