FOSSICKERS hellbent on discovering the next Welcome Stranger can unearth the latest whiz-bang gadgetry and heavy-duty apparatus at the Australian Gold Prospectors Expo.

Set for the Bendigo Showgrounds across the weekend of 15 and 16 April, organiser Brad Williams said the expo is considered the premier event in Australia for gold prospectors.

“Exhibitors come from a number of states, including Queensland, NSW, South Australia and Victoria,” he said.

“Those attending come from all over Australia, and on occasions even from Japan and New Zealand. It is very much an Australia-wide event.

“A wide array of detector makers attend, as do those who produce gold sluices and similar equipment. Local governments attend and present what their shires offer in terms of accessible goldfields.

“A number of manufacturers who produce supporting equipment will be there, as well as leather equipment, including harnesses to assist in carrying detectors and batteries. Gold maps are available and a selection of picks, all made in Australia.

“The expo is suitable for just about everyone, and all age brackets, from retirees, to working people, and especially young people who have an interest in gold.

“It is a unique opportunity for those interested to speak with the experts, who are all in the same place, at the same time.”

The Australian Gold Prospectors Expo will be held on Saturday, 15 April between 9am and 5pm and 9am to 4pm on Sunday, 16 April.
