JOBSEEKERS keen to secure a new role are being encouraged to register for the Bendigo Jobs Expo on Wednesday 4 September.

More than 70 exhibitors who are actively recruiting staff will be at the event at Red Energy Arena in West Bendigo, which runs from 12pm to 2pm.

Exhibitors will include the City of Greater Bendigo, Bendigo Health, Golden City Support Services, Goodstart Early Learning, Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine and the Department of Defence.

Bunnings Warehouse, Ambulance Victoria, La Trobe University, the Australian Signals Directorate, Deloitte, Hazeldenes Chicken and many more also will be represented.

City strategy and growth director Rachel Lee said the expo was a one-stop shop for many central Victorian businesses to connect directly with local jobseekers of all ages.

“A thriving workforce strengthens the region’s economy and supports local businesses now and in the future,” Ms Lee said.

“We are expecting over 400 jobseekers, so this is a fantastic opportunity to meet with high-profile employers. Jobseekers will be able to explore employment opportunities from a variety of industries and sectors.

“Attendees keen to upskill can learn about training schemes and available apprenticeships on offer. The Bendigo Jobs Expo is not to be missed if you are looking for your next job or an exciting new career, so I encourage you to register today.”

Chris Booth from Workforce Australia Local Jobs said companies were keen to talk through opportunities with jobseekers.

“We know that many companies at the expo will be actively recruiting new staff and there will be onsite interviews happening too,” Mr Booth said.

“You may be seeking a new job opportunity, a gap year from education, or want a different career pathway.

“Perhaps you are looking for a temporary, casual or part-time role or returning to work after a career break. Word is out that this expo is a great way to find the right job for you.”

Expo highlights will include career advice on resumes, mock interview tips, a La Trobe University robotics presentation and TAFE immersive simulators.

The expo is being supported by the City of Greater Bendigo, Workforce Australia Local Jobs Bendigo, Red Energy Arena and Be.Bendigo. To register, go to events.humanitix.com/bendigo-jobs-expo.
