MORE than eight-hundred grants have been announced as part of the latest round of the State Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program.

Bendigo Baseball Association, Bendigo Calisthenics, and the Bendigo Clay Target Club are among the organisations to share in over $1 million.

Eaglehawk Soccer Club, Strathdale Soccer Club, Sandhurst Football Netball Club and Kangaroo Flat Swimming Club will also receive funds.

The Program is split into the four categories of uniforms and equipment up to $1000, volunteers and officials up to $5000, access and engagement up to $4000, and competitors up to $750.

Successful applicants will be required to complete their funded projects and spend their grants within 12 months.

“We’re getting behind local sports clubs, making sure they have the facilities and equipment they need to support their local communities,” acting Minister for Community Sport Gayle Tierney said.

“These grants create real opportunities for the people at the heart of local sport, helping players grow, volunteers stay engaged, and coaches give their best both on and off the field.”

Since 2014, the program has invested more than $19.5 million in local communities to support thousands of sport and recreation clubs across the state.

The program is backed by the Regional Community Sport Development Fund, which is delivering infrastructure upgrades and other programs, including the Regional Community Sport Infrastructure Fund to help more regional Victorians to get active and be a part of their local sporting clubs.
