THE planned White Hills Oval female-friendly pavilion upgrade is closer to coming to fruition following news that the Victorian Budget 2026/27 includes up to $3 million for it.

The project includes improvements to the pavilion’s kitchen, spectator shelter, change room and other amenities and is expected to not only relieve pressure on existing facilities, but also provide a more modern and welcoming space for everyone, including more women and girls.

The Scott Street oval currently hosts Australian rules football, cricket, netball and broader community events and pastimes.

“We are backing the Hillies with the infrastructure they need to get more families involved in sport,” Premier and Bendigo East MP Jacinta Allan said.

“It will mean more games, more participation and more opportunities for players, families and the community.”

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence said better sport and recreation facilities make it easier for residents in areas like White Hills to lead and enjoy healthy and active lifestyles.

The state government also acknowledged the City of Greater Bendigo for its ongoing commitment and financial contribution to the project.
