THREE local breweries and a popular North Bendigo hotel will join forces again this weekend for a Spring Equinox Party.
The 10-hour event will feature spring-themed beers from Bendigo Brewing, Cornella Brewery and the Brewers Collective, and will take place at The Cambrian Hotel in Arnold Street.
It will run from 3pm tomorrow, Saturday 20 September, to 1am on Sunday and will feature beers selected to suit the season.
Cornella Brewery’s offerings will include its Forest Fruit Gose and ‘Single Flower’ DDH IPA (double dry hopped India pale ale).
The Green Cube Hazy IPA will be among Bendigo Brewing products available, and the Brewers Collective’s Dunkelweizen will also be on the list.
A charity trivia competition will take place from 8pm, with all proceeds to go towards Sonia Brit Tavener’s Gofundme cancer treatment appeal, and West Goornong Massive will perform a ‘Pubstep’ set in the beer garden.
Ms Brit is a well-known local artist and designer who has been battling brain cancer since a diagnosis in 2012.
This weekend’s event is free for anyone to drop in and sample the offerings, but bookings for a meal in the bistro should be made by phoning 5443 3363.
Steph Hunter, who operates Bendigo Brewing with husband Evan, said the party followed a similar event on 21 June, which celebrated the winter solstice with dark-themed beers.
She said the three breweries and the Cambrian had teamed up to present that event, and decided to do the same again for its spring equivalent.
Ms Hunter said the hotel was a champion of local and craft beers and had proven to be an ideal location for calendar dates such as these.
“From all reports, I’ve heard that everyone had an excellent time,” Ms Hunter said of June’s party.
“I wasn’t able to attend because I was due for a baby five days later. (But) I only heard great things; it was a packed house.”
