Spring party to get social
GET back to nature, and normalcy, at the Old Church on the Hill’s Spring Garden Party next weekend.
Community garden committee member Ainslie Frost said the free event was open to all to share the outdoor space and encourage social connections post-COVID.
“We’ve really all been hanging on to be able to connect again with others,” she said.
“I feel like, particularly after all of the lockdowns, places where people can come and meet each other and neighbours and have that support is so important. The garden has always been a place like that at the Old Church.
“The other part of our thinking in doing it was to let people know that we would love them to come along to our garden social club and working bees and to be involved in the planning, dreaming, scheming and management of the garden as well.”
Coffee, tea and cake will be available to purchase, with proceeds going towards funding the community garden’s upkeep.
There’ll also be homemade lemonade, an art stall, and for the young ones fairy floss and kids activities like flower garland making and origami.
Ms Frost said she hoped the event would encourage more people to get involved in the organisation’s network moving forward.
“It’s a beautiful community at the Old Church and letting people know that it’s there is one of the main aims, that they can connect in with that,” she said.
The party is scheduled for Saturday, 13 November from 1pm to 5pm. To register, visit bit.ly/3EpkI3Y.
