FROM June, Bendigo Stadium will be known as the Red Energy Arena, after the power utility acquired naming rights for the stadium’s show courts.

Red Energy is an Australian-owned subsidiary of Snowy Hydro, an electricity and gas retailer in Victoria, New South Wales, ACT, Queensland and South Australia.

CEO of Bendigo Stadium, Dennis Bice, said the partnership could help raise location’s brand recognition to a national level and “enhance the stadium’s status as a world class facility.”

“This is a fantastic collaboration and partnership with a company that is Australian owned with a focus around building better communities,” he said.

“We are excited to see the beginning of a long-term partnership for both organisations.”

Red Energy will also provide renewable energy to the stadium as part of the Victorian Energy Collaboration contract announced in 2021, which sees two wind Victorian wind farms providing electricity to 47 local government areas.

The project is expected to see a reduction in 260,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.

Red Energy general manager of business development David Holman said the deal with Bendigo Stadium could provide growth opportunities to both parties.

“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity where we can demonstrate our leadership in renewable energy as well as our support for community events in Bendigo,” he said.

“Red Energy Arena will be at the centre of Bendigo’s sporting and entertainment events and become part of the city’s vernacular.”
