THE Melbourne Vixens will host three Super Netball sides in Bendigo this weekend with Giants Netball, Adelaide Thunderbirds and the Sunshine Coast Lightning all making the trip to town.

Four pre-season matches will take place at Red Energy Arena with two played on Saturday and two more on Sunday,

There’s also a men’s match set to open proceedings on the first day.

Vixens captain Kate Moloney said the team is eager to get to town to play in what are vital matches in the lead up to the season.

“This weekend coming up in Bendigo is so important,” she said. “We will get to see where we are at and how the group is going and what we need to work on leading into round one.”

At 10.30am on Saturday morning the fans can come along and meet Foxy the Vixens’ team mascot, take part in clinics with the players as well as win prizes in team giveaways at the Golden City Netball Association.

Moloney said the group is excited to get back out of the major metro areas and amongst their fans after a few years of limited pre-seasons.

“We missed it for a few years because of COVID but we love getting out to the regional areas and regional towns,” she said.

“Hopefully we can get a lot of people out to the games, participating in the clinics and really showcase what the Suncorp Super Netball is all about.”

The Super Netball weekend fixture will begin with the Giants taking on the Thunderbirds at 3:15pm on the Saturday followed by the Vixens and Lightning.

Sunday will see Thunderbirds taking on the Lightning at 11am before the Vixens have their final hit out against the Giants.
