BENDIGO Kangan Institute has taken out the Large Training Provider of the Year Award at the 2025 Victorian Training Awards, with Bendigo TAFE justice and community services teacher Tarmi A’Vard adding a cherry on top by also being declared Teacher/Trainer of the Year.

The awards build on the organisation’s 2022 wins as both the Victorian and Australian Large Training Provider of the Year and are additionally seen as a key milestone for the first year of its 2030 Strategic Plan: Growth for Impact.

“Winning Victorian Large Training Provider of the Year is a powerful endorsement of our strategic ambition and sector leadership,” Bendigo Kangan Institute chair Sharan Burrow AC said.

“It reflects the scale, innovation and impact we’ve delivered across Victoria.

“We’re proud to help shape the future of skills, workforce development and lifelong learning.”

Bendigo Kangan Institute interim CEO Janelle Arena added that it’s an “incredible achievement” for Bendigo Kangan Institute and a proud moment for vocational education in Victoria.

“This recognition celebrates the dedication of our educators, staff and students, and affirms our leadership in delivering inclusive, future-ready training that empowers individuals and strengthens communities,” she said.

Ms A’Vard is known for classes that are hands-on, student-centred and inclusive.

“Vocational education has the power to transform lives and strengthen communities, and I’m proud to play a small part in that journey,” she said.

“This award reflects the inspiration I draw from my students, colleagues, family and community every day.”
