TRADESPEOPLE seeking work are being encouraged to make a submission to the City of Greater Bendigo’s Trade Services Tender, which is open until next week.

It is the first time in five years that the tender for works in the annual maintenance program has been advertised.

Chief executive officer Andrew Cooney said tenders like this are an opportunity for the city to support small business.

“Successful tenders need to represent value for money and at this stage we are looking for businesses that are willing to be part of a panel,” Mr Cooney said.

“A panel then allows staff to select from a pool of pre-qualified trades to complete particular jobs.

“The city has more than 1200 public buildings and structures that it is responsible for, so demand for trades to help maintain these assets is never-ending. There is also a 20-point weighting for local content when evaluating submissions.”

Skills in building and building maintenance, plumbing and gasfitting, electrical, electronic services and data communications, painting, glazing and glass repairs, graffiti removal and pressure washing, roller shutters and doors, roof safety systems, and hoists and adult change tables are being sought.

The Contract CT000710 Provision of Various Trade Services is being offered as a three-year contract, with an option to extend by a further four years.

Sole traders, partnerships, companies, social enterprises and trusts are welcome to apply.

The tender is available to view and download on VendorPanel, via the city’s website. Registration on the VendorPanel platform is free and local businesses can be notified of future opportunities in their field.

Submissions close at 3pm on Wednesday 12 June.
