BIG4 Bendigo Ascot Holiday Park has announced itself as one of the best in the country after winning multiple national awards.

At the BIG4 Annual Awards the park nabbed the Des and Margaret Watts Supreme Award for Excellence as well as the Alan and Gloria Rowett Award for Big4 Perks+ Highest Weighted Sales.

Operations manager Rod Mugleston, who took over in February 2020, also won the park staff Young Achiever Award.

“When you consider that it’s out of 180 parks, especially with the rough couple of years we’ve had, the fact we were recognised was really special,” Mr Mugleston said.

“Even with my award, it doesn’t happen without my team, that’s for all of us.

“Groundsmen, maintenance, office staff, we have high goals and standards, and they all meet those standards daily. That’s why we get the reputation we’ve got and why we were lucky enough to win that award.”

Mr Mugleston has operated the park since February 2020 and said the aim from the beginning was to facilitate a relaxed environment.

“Right from the start, we want [people] to have the feeling that they can make themselves at home,” he said.

“We want them to have the feeling that there not walking into a business, it’s like walking into a family friend’s farm that they’re staying at.”

BIG4 Bendigo Ascot is located on Heinz Street, and Mr Mugleston said it is ideal for young families.

The park features a jumping pillow, mini golf, go-karts, an outdoor basketball court and indoor playrooms.
