CHRISTMAS is quietly approaching, and one Golden Square resident is busily fulfilling personalised gift orders.

Kirsten Boyd has been making Christmas baubles for over 20 years, and has expanded her range to include personalised wreaths, hats, and champagne glasses for families to use at the Christmas table.

“It’s been so long without being able to see family and friends that I just want to make that extra special, to be able to have their own place at the dining room table,” she said.

Ms Boyd moved to Bendigo two years ago and said she’s excited to be able to travel to Melbourne and see her family, including her eldest child who she hasn’t seen in four months.

“All our family are in Melbourne so it’s quite exciting for us, the fact we get to spend it with them,” she said.  “That’s why I’m trying, especially with the glasses, to make it that extra bit special this year after the last two years.”

“I try not to charge too much as well. I’m not in it to make a fortune, I just want to see people happy. It’s about coming together and seeing the joy on kids’ and adults’ faces.”

Ms Boyd advertises her crafts on the Facebook page, One day closer to rain – Rural cottage crafts, a space for anyone in regional Australia to sell their crafts.

She said she has had orders, including dummy bags for Santa to collect children’s dummies, ship nationwide.

Ms Boyd has also recently launched her own Facebook page, Kirsten’s Kreations for people to reach out to her.
